Money
The currency of Slovenia is Euro since January of 2007.
1 euro = 100 cents.
You can exchange your money very easy in the bank or in the post office, that are opened from Monday to Saturday. We reccomend to avoid exchanging money at the train station or a hotel because of the higher rates.
Weather
The climate in Ljubljana is oceanic with continental characteristics such as warm summers and moderately cold winters. The warmest months are July and August with daily temperature between 25 and 30 ⁰C and January is the coldest month with the temperatures mostly oscillating around 0 ⁰C.

Ljubljana and whole Slovenia is in East European time zone, that means a time difference of +1 hours comparing to the United Kingdom and the same time like most of Europe from France to Poland.
Visa
Slovenia follows the visa policy of EU, which means that there is virtually unlimited free entry to the country for any citizen of other EU (inclusive United Kingdom). To entry the country by airplane everybody needs a valid travel document (ID card or passport). Visa is required for many countries outside EU (to mention few South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Russia, China).

Language
The people in Ljubljana speaks Slovenian, their official language that has a lot in common with Croat and Serb languages. The level of spoken English is very high when compared to most of European countries. There is also widespread German, French or Italian language. You will certainly impress the locals by learning few Slovenian words.
Public Transport
The public transport in Ljubljana consist of buses, that covers 97% of urban area of Ljubljana Municipality and the distance to the nearest stop is less than 500 meters. There is also a fairly efficient bus network to reach the most popular attractions. At night, it shouldn't be a problem to transfer, because there runs the night lines. For using the public transport you have to buy based on no-contact smart card Urbana that need to be loaded with an amount ranging from €1 to €50.

Orientation
Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia is a beautiful central european city situated on the river Ljubljanica running through the centre to the historical city centre. Although it is a small city with population of some 270, 000 inhabitant, it has gained great popularity among travellers in recent years, because of its historic atmosphere of old town, endless cultural events and many restaurants, chic bars and lively night clubs.
Sightseeing
The main attraction for visitors is the ancien Ljubljana Castle preched on the top of hill. That dominates the city offer tourists a marvelous view of the Ljubljana basin and the Alps alike. The visitors can´t miss the city´s main architectural works like St. Nicholas Cathedral, the Dragon Bridge or the Triple Bridge situated over the river Ljubljanica. There are also 15 museums, 41 galleries with various themes and numerous cultural exhibitions. The special about Ljubljana is that it host a huge number of free open-air events, so there are many opportunities to go for everyone.
Nightlife
Ljubljana is a young city with a modern lifestyle and lively atmosphere at nights due to many bars and exclusive clubs or gaming salons. There are also several rock and jazz clubs, that organize DJ nights and live music events to liven up. The people in Ljubljana are very friendly and the English language is spoken by most of the young people.
Opening Hours
The museums and galleries are usually opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but on Monday are closed. The tourist can visit Ljubljana Castle between 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. in wintertime and during summer stay opened until 11 p.m. The bars and pubs are usually opened untill midnight and clubs till 5 a.m.
